CD Meets a Group of Young People in Gaziantep

Since 2005, the World Bank has been supporting the implementation of “Youth Social Development Program” (GSGP) in Turkey with the Japan Social Development Fund (JSDF) grant. In addition to this the Bank have been supportive of the United Nations Youth Thematic Group (UNTG) which is a cross-institutional group of international organizations (UN agencies, the World Bank and the European Union) that aims at sharing of information on youth oriented programs/actions, and interacting with youth and government on youth issues in a joint platform. At a recent Field Trip to Gaziantep, Country Director Ulrich Zachau met with a group of young people at the Youth Center inside the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports. Zachau had the opportunity to discuss the issues related to youth. A group of 50 young people had the chance to express their views on the education system, employment challenges and shared their future hopes and expectations.
