"[Early] education is the best insurance against poverty" could be the motto of the two-day conference on Early Childhood Development (ECD) “Investing in Early Years, which was jointly organized by the World Bank and UNICEF on October 12-13 in partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Ministry of Health, State Planning Organization and other agencies. International experts, academics, government agencies, civil society and practitioners of early childhood development participated in the conference.
The conference, which was opened by Excellencies Recep AkdaÄŸ, Minister of Health, and Nimet Çubukçu, Minister of National Education, took stock of the status of ECD outcomes and policies in Turkey and explored ways to expand and improve ECD in Turkey, building on what Turkey is already doing and learning from the experiences of countries like Chile, Brazil, Russia and Poland.
